Commit To Your Goals - And Achieve Them!

By

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6718877

A saying goes like this - "If you want; and you can't, it simply means you have not tried enough." In other words, if you really want something and are prepared to work to achieve the same, there is nothing that can stop you.

You want to achieve something, have made your goals and are even working in that direction. Now, can there be anything to stop you from achieving what you aim for? Certainly not, if and only if you are really committed to the same. Yes! It is the commitment that decides the end result. You can not work half-heartedly to achieve something you have given your heart to.

Why not have a quick check if you are really committed to your goals:

  • Have you penned down your commitment? There are numerous cases to stress on the importance of written down goals. Writing down your goals brings more clarity, makes them more specific and reinforces your personal ownership of the goals. It acts as a constant reminder. Reading your written goals often keeps you focused and encourages you to act decisively.

  • To whom is your commitment? It is important to clarify to yourself that the commitment is made to yourself. If you want something for others or because others will appreciate it, you have a perfect recipe for failure. Remember, nobody works for anyone else. Even employees can achieve organizational goals only when they personalize and own them. So, make the commitment not to others, but to yourself.

  • Have you committed time to it? Time, as you know, is a priceless, highly valuable commodity. If a goal is dear to you, you must set aside a timeslot devoted to it. It may be daily, weekly, whatever you have decided after carefully considering the requirements. Great goals can not be achieved by stray activities here and there in your 'spare time'. Quality goals need quality time. You have to plan for it.

  • Have you committed required investment? While there is no idea just throwing money away, the fact remains that nothing comes free. Depending on the nature of your goals and your own competency and skills, you may need some resources like books, products, equipment or coaching. Certainly purchasing any amount of these resources will not deliver the desired, it is equally important to have some minimum investment. If you want everything without making any investment, the results may be disappointing only. Simplest example can be when you want to become a good electrician; but are not willing to buy an electric tester.

  • Are you motivated enough to ACT? Are you spending too much time planning? Are you bogged down by sheer size of the project before you? While it is not a good idea to move ahead without proper planning, it may be worse if you continue planning and trying to make a perfect plan. The success mantra is to start moving. Aim for something practical, not perfect. And do you know the most auspicious time to take the first step? It is NOW.

Go For The Win

By

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6468196

At some point in life after studying all you can, observing all you see, understand the world around you, sizing up the competition, and preparing yourself - you'll be ready, but ready for what I ask? Why not go for the win. If you want to win you have to be bold, you have to make a decision, and you have to execute the plan. Far too many people spend all their time strategizing, getting ready, getting set, getting on their mark, and then waiting for the opportunity, for everything to be perfect, before they pull the trigger.

Indeed, I would submit to you that hesitation, procrastination, and excuses are nothing more than pure evil. Therefore, putting off the inevitable, or failing to go for it when it's necessary is immoral. Failing to act, to do, or to get the job done for whatever reason, excuse, justification, or mitigating circumstances is not to be admired regardless of how elaborate, intricate, or complicated the reasoning. When it all comes down to it, what we need are fewer apologies, more action, and more achievement. Success often goes to the bold, and so I ask are you bold enough to go for it?

Okay so, now would be a good time, what's the hold up, and don't give me some song and dance, more reasons why you can't, won't, or don't dare, or why you must acquiesce to circumstances beyond your control. That's not how you win. To win you must battle the obstacles in your way, deny defeat, and refuse to let anyone break your stride. To be bold you must push the pedal to the metal, you must accelerate in the face of adversity, and you must stand and get it done. If not, it's just talk, that doesn't impress me much, and it certainly won't win accolades from the crowd.

Oh sure, there is a time for prudence, posturing, politics, planning, and discretion but at some point those periods are past, and it's time to pull the trigger. Make a move, don't just talk about it. You see, no one is going to look up to you for those things you might do in the future. Don't expect anyone to be impressed with your daring strategic objectives, because in this world it is about performance prior to praise. It's about success, winning, and accomplishment. Anyone can talk about, in fact most people do, but the ones which impress me are those who walk their talk, and go out there and do it.

Go for the Win!

Team Leadership: How To Maintain The Support Of Your Team

Involve Them

What type of leader do you want to be? You could be the one who dishes out orders and instructions or the one who involves the team in key decisions. While there is a small minority of people on a team who will just go with the flow, the vast majority want to be involved, to have their say and to make their contribution.

Encourage Them

Those that you lead, just like you, have their moments of doubt. They may need the encouragement of you to take on new responsibilities or roles. When you encourage others you give out a very strong message that you care about them and their success.

Listen To Them

Your people know that you are good at what you do; that after all is why you are in a leadership role. At the same time you know that you cannot know the detail, the problems, challenges and opportunities on everything. Listening to the team is invaluable. It takes very little effort but can yield huge benefits.

Do What You Promise

People understand that no one can deliver perfect results 100% of the time. By the same token, they will not want to have a lot of promises that you never deliver on. Choose your promises wisely and then make sure you deliver on them.

Don't Play The Seniority Card

Yes, you are more senior in terms of the organisational hierarchy. At the same time, you are just a normal human being just like them. The more of that human side you can see the better as it will build trust and loyalty.

Deal With Difficult Stuff Professionally

There is going to be some difficult stuff to deal with periodically. When that comes around the key is to deal with it professionally and confidentially. Dealing with the messy stuff privately is key as dealing with it in public will destroy trust.

The Bottom Line: Winning and maintaining the support of your team is vital to the results that you achieve and deliver as a leader. So what do you need to do more of to get even better results as a leader?

Benefits of a Good Business Brand

By

Article Source: ezinearticle.com

Small businesses don't actually have a lot of resources to promote their business. They only rely on whatever they have at hand to get their business in front of their target audience. At most, they use their creativity in order to come up with unique and interesting campaigns that will put their business on top. With the growing competition in the market these days, it's just fitting that businesses explore every possible avenue to promote their business on a budget.

A good place to start your small business campaign is in strengthening your brand. This means that you need to come up with an effective strategy that will put your brand in front of people. That can be done through your logo, business name, and even your tag line. These are printed on your marketing materials to help people get familiar with your business. Reliable printing services will help you get your brand represented well in your materials. Perhaps you are wondering why it's important to establish a good brand in the market. To answer that, here are the important functions of good branding:

* It will build trust. It's important that people trust you and your business. Only when they have confidence in you will they patronize your offerings. From the moment people look at your logo or business name, they should already read a strong promise; a promise to give them high quality service. It's crucial though that you deliver on that promise so you can keep the trust of your customers and prospects. If you can't deliver on your promise, it's best if you don't make a promise at all.

* It will promote your integrity. A good brand will assure people that you are a credible business. They will know that you are an expert in your field, making it easy for them to put their trust on you. The more established you look to them the more they will patronize you. This may even encourage them to refer you to their friends and family.

* It will tell your story. It's not easy communicating your unique story to your target audience. This will often take a lot of materials and money. But if you can create a good brand, your story will be communicated in just one glance. One look at your logo and people will already know who you are, what you do, and what you can offer to them. It will also tell people how different you are from your competition and why they should patronize you.

* It will make your business memorable. Not everyone has a photographic memory. This is why it is crucial that you make your business exceptional so it will be easy for people to remember you. The visual element of your brand such as your logo should be designed well so it will easily stand out from the crowd. For instance, when your business cards is placed next to your competitions cards, yours should be easily noticeable.

As your business grows, it's important for your brand to support and grow with your business. From your logo down to your tag line, everything should be thought of. You don't just hire online printing services and assume that they will do everything for you. You have to do work on your brand yourself if you want it to reflect your business best.

Stop Hating the World - How to Find Happiness

By

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6672638

Aristotle says,"Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence."

No doubt this quote of Aristotle explains the significance of the word ''Happiness''. Happiness makes a major part of our life. It has its roots deeply embedded in our souls which effects our hearts and minds. A combination of this trio opens the doors to new horizons that approach the sublime. Most of us await opportunities and means that could become a source of our happiness. We expect others to make us happy and when others fail to meet our expectations, we feel depressed and our lives are overwhelmed by the thick and dense clouds of melancholy.

If we look around, we can find a thousand ways to make ourselves happy and can also send the sparks of this happiness to those, who form a major part of our life. Happiness is an art. Those, who learn it, are considered lucky as they fully utilize this art to make the world a happier and better place to live at. Some people rely on others for their happiness. They associate their happiness to the actions and deeds of others and if they go against them, they lose temper and show their grievances through groaning and grumbling. This provokes negativism in them which in turn affects their personality.

If we ponder deeply we can find infinite ways of keeping not only ourselves, but also everyone, hale and hearty. Our happiness is in our hands. We have to find means how to explore it. Nature provides us an immense source of happiness that is hidden in its fabulous scenery, creatures and objects. The Sun rises in the East and spreads its golden rays everywhere to make everything glitter like gold. When its rays strike the clear water of a stream they create tiny twinkling stars in it. The fresh morning breeze blows over the mountains and valleys. Birds soar in the sky flapping their wings gracefully. The dense clouds play hide and seek in the sky. All this natural phenomena has a soothing effect on us and make us feel delighted.

Another source of happiness lies in expressing our pent up emotions in the most befitting manner. Write an article to express your views. Express yourself with the help of your words. Give expression to your thoughts through words. You'll have your catharsis and it will provide you relief.

Find your way to happiness in your kitchen. Take a good recipe, prepare a dish of your choice and share it with family and friends. Invite your friends to dine out with you and enjoy their company. You can go to cinema or theatre with your family or friends to enjoy the new releases. Dine out in restaurants and hotels. Go on vacation with your family and visit picturesque places. Explore the depths of beautiful valleys.

Sit by the fire side in the cold winter evening and read a good novel. Satisfy your appetite by taking hot chicken corn soup. Walk in the meadows to enjoy the fresh beads of dew on the green grass. Look at the wild red roses that are fragrant like the French perfume. Paint a picture by scattering the colours of rainbow on your canvas. Let your colours speak by giving them a balance with the soft touch of your painting brush. Express your innovative ideas through your artistic work and make your colours your representative.

The best way of seeking happiness is to give others happiness. Console the broken hearts with the balm of love and care. Try to provide them comfort by realizing their pain and relieving the broken hearts of their piercing agony.

Dedicate yourself to a noble cause, like consoling the needy and dejected people. Work for the welfare of others. Prefer the interest of others over your own interest and see just how delighted you feel. Love and respect others. This will leave an astounding soothing effect on your mind and heart which results in the complete contentment of your soul. Never breed feelings of enmity and abhorrence in your heart as they may cast a disastrous effect on your personality.

The most desirable way of acquiring true happiness is our staunch belief in the divine powers of God. It purifies our soul that results in complete satisfaction of our heart and mind.

We can find happiness everywhere, if we aim to devise ways that elaborate our chances of attaining happiness. Stop complaining of your failures, be realistic and boldly face the world.Don't hold others responsible for your sufferings. Just find your own ways towards the joys of life and be delighted and happy.

Tips to Forget About Yesterday and Live for Today

By

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Lesley_Geller

I hear what you are saying, but even just listening is exhausting. Unlike others in your life who ask how you are and don't wait for the response, I actually hear what you are saying and am waiting for your response. Not only that, but once you tell me, I am secretly trying to take it to the next level and trying to help.

As I observe your actions though, I can only wonder if that is really what you want at all. The story you tell is one of passion. Your eyes gaze into the air above as if you can almost feel yourself having all that you want: passion, happiness, success, freedom...you are so passionate in fact, that I can almost feel it. Yet once your story-telling is over, your eyes seem to lower, creating somewhat of a defeated look. What I see is that you are actually resigned to having the life you have right now, exactly as it is.

"Impossible!" you say, "I do want more!"

Really?

The two largest complaints I hear are about wanting to move forward in life and wanting more financial success. While you may hear these topics as larger than life, I am clear that as long as you have actions that follow your words, connected with a real plan and an ability to truly imagine what they look like, you can achieve either... or both.

So you say you want to move forward? You want to stop having your past dictate your future? Of course you do! Who wouldn't want that? Maybe the answer is you. Moving forward is not hard to do. It can be painful, with its daily or weekly challenges, but it is about commitment. It is about honoring your word to stop looking back. It is about not treating people in your life today, based on what your life brought to your doorstep yesterday.

"Today's hysteria is history."

That's right. Whatever has you upset in this very moment, has so many legs from your past attached to it that you can't even see what is present in this moment. And if you can't see what is present in this moment, then you are choosing to live in the past and will not be moving forward. Not today anyway.

Find out what you really want by asking yourself a simple question:

If there were no limitations or fears what would I be willing to do to achieve my goals?

Got it? Great!

Understand that limitations are merely obstacles to climb over and fears, well, are just fears. You can thank them for showing up over and over, but then continue on your journey in spite of them.

Now we can go back to the original topic of what you really want and how long are you willing to let yourself get in your own way? Carve out what you want by being completely present in this moment. Put aside what your past has said you are capable of and create the path to get you there.

Say what you mean, then back it up with actions that truly show you mean it!

Tips for a Good Business Communication

By

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6684497

Very good business communication is very difficult. But it is something that you can learn. Enjoy a few practical tips.

Purpose and message

First think about the purpose and message of the text. Say you're an attendance officer and you have to write to parents about their child's truancy. What is the message? What is your goal? The message is probably simple. Your son is missing school on a regular basis. What is your goal? Do you want parents to meet you school? Do you want parents to talk to their son? Only when we know the goal can we write a clear and effective message.

The structure of your letter

The opening

The goal of the opening is threefold: make contact, entice your reader to read on and manage the expectations of your reader.

How do you contact?

This is actually quite simple. You start a letter to your grandparents with "How are you? I'm doing well. "You do not write: "I'm doing well. How are you? ". And if possible, refer to earlier contact, "You know me, I am the attendance officer, I have your son's school parent-teacher meeting scheduled."

How to seduce your readers?

Readers always want something like money, status, prestige, convenience or novelty. Your reader wants to read on only if he expects it he gets something he needs.

Managing the expectations

Manage expectations. How? By example in the last line of your introduction will tell you what to write in this letter. The attendance officer writes: "This letter tells you how often your son skipped school this school year, measures the city will now take and what you can do."

Use subheadings

Most readers are lazy. Readers do not read. The fact that you read this, I owe to subheadings. The attendance officer uses the following sub-headings: "How often your son skipped school", "What action is the school taking?" and "What can you do?" You see these are all questions. Many readers find it enjoyable. But the attendance officer may also write: "Failure Rate", "Measures of the municipality" and "Your action"

Sales Training Ideas - How to Build Strong Customer Relationships

By

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6690400

5 Steps to Strong Customer Relationships

1) Focus completely on the customer and how you can help.

The customer always comes first and your primary objective is to help them, even if that means, dare I say, sending them to the competition. Granted, most of the time you'll have a solution and you of course shouldn't be looking for reasons to send the customer to the competition. At the same time, you simply have to have the level of commitment to the customer where you are willing to do whatever you have to do to help them out. This leads to our next two points.

2) Stay on your toes and do what you say you'll do.

You have a customer and you've started to build a solid relationship, you have to keep the ball rolling in the right direction. This means staying on top of things and continuing to have a high level of commitment to the customer, you can't take them for granted once you have them signed on. Also, continue to build trust and credibility by doing what you say you'll do when you say you'll do it. Call when you say you'll call, send items when you say you'll send them.

3) Go above and beyond.

The next step in building a strong, positive relationship is to go above and beyond what the customer expects. Do more than people expect and deliver more than the customer pays for. Words to keep in mind here are: more, better, different. How can you deliver more, how can you be better, and how can you be different, in a good way, from your competitors. This is the one that really builds trust and credibility and builds long-term, happy customers. Always look for ways to surprise people in a good way.

4) Good, solid communication.

Correct, continuous communication is a key to solid, long-term customer relationships. If you fall out of communication for too long, people begin to forget about you and the relationship begins to deteriorate. Also, if there is a miscommunication, or incorrect communication, the relationship also goes down hills rapidly. Ask people how often they want to hear from you and in what form, be it phone, e-mail, written letter, or other, and then communicate clearly in the frequency and medium they are looking for.

5) Continue to build the relationship.

Once you have a strong foundation in place, continue to work on and build the relationship. This includes getting personal information on customers as well as sharing some of your own. Once you have that information, you want to use it. Send out holiday, birthday, and anniversary cards. Send out items such as articles, books, and gifts related to their areas of interest. Continue to ask questions that will help you understand your customers better, both personally and professionally. Ultimately we want all of our customers to be loyal customers and friends. Treat customer relationships as if they are relationships with close friends and family members and nurture them in similar ways.

Follow the five steps above and you will build strong customer relationships in which your customers know, like, and trust you. The bottom line: If you care more about your customers than anything else and treat them right, they will continue to do business with you, send friends and family to you, and you will never have to worry about having enough business, also, your life will be happier and more enjoyable.

By

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6608211

Changing a habit doesn't happen over night. It takes time. If you want to achieve success, then you have to work at it every day until your work becomes a habit. Setting and achieving goals is habit forming, so the more you write down your goals, and undertake work on your goals, the more likely you will be to stick to achieve them. 1. Re-write your goals every day: Looking at your goals is good, but re-writing them every day is even better, This way you are re-enforcing the message of goals setting, and of your goals. So take time out every morning to re-write your goals.

  2. There is no direct line between A and B: Well if there is it is very thin, and not many people travel it. We learn through failures and road block along the way. Accept that this is part of the challenge. Things won't work well all the time, and you may have to change your focus. However, if you stick at your goals you will eventually achieve them. This is why making your goals a habit is very important.

  3. Make sure you are doing things for yourself: If you are doing your goals to please others then in the long run this will have a negative effect. Either you won't be fully committed to your goals, or you may feel resentment to the other person. Stick to goals that mean something to you and that are relevant to your life.

Goal setting success doesn't happen over night. Working on your goals every day is a habit, and the sooner you get into this routine the more success you will have. Here's to your goal setting success.

10 Rules for Small Business Success

by Isabel M. Isidro PowerHomeBiz Editor

Article Source : http://powerhomebiz.com

1. Find a Niche. For small businesses, it is best to find a niche. A small company with limited resources can efficiently serve niche markets. Concentrate your efforts on a fairly narrow market offering. This entails sticking to what you do best, and becoming an expert in that field. Realize that it is not possible to be good at everything. By concentrating on a fairly narrow market niche, you may be able to avoid head-on collision with bigger competitors. If you are a hardware store selling everything from paints to lumber, the entry of giant retailers like Home Depot in your area can spell the end for your business. However, you can try to limit your offering, for example, to construction of porches and decks and be the best retailer for this segment.

2. Be small, yet think big. The most common question of small business start-ups is “How can I compete with my big competitors?“ Small businesses have inherent advantages over big businesses, including flexibility, ability to respond quickly, able to provide a more personalized service. Make sure that your business takes maximum advantage of those areas that represent the strengths of small companies.

3. Differentiate your products. Present the benefits of your products and services to your customers, highlighting the unique solutions it offers to their problems. Avoid being a copycat; rarely do imitators succeed in the market. Study, but do not copy your competitors, and package your products distinctly.

4. First impression counts. Strive for accuracy and quality the first time around. You often do not have a second chance to make a good first impression. This entails a well-laid out store, courteous staff, and personable voice over the phone, etc. However, if you are a one-person business working in a home office, remember that you are the center of your business & marketing efforts. Everyone you come in touch with is potentially a client or a referral to another client because they are either impressed with you as a person, impressed with your skill at providing a certain service or product. Make sure that you are always presentable, professional in your ways and knowledgeable about your business.

5. Good reputation. Your business hinges on its reputation. It is imperative that you build a good reputation for the quality of your products and support services. Remember that two things guarantee success: high quality goods and superior service. Always aim for quality. If you are a tax consultant, strive to prepare a totally accurate, perfectly done tax returns for your clients.

6. Constant improvement. Entrepreneurs know that they should not be rigid in their ways of thinking in their quest to improve their best products and services. You risk being left behind by the fast-paced competition if you cling to the “this is how we’ve always done it” kind of thinking. The business environment today demands that you need to come up with new solutions fast!

7. Listen to your customers. Be market driven: listen and react to your customer’s needs. Customers need to feel that they are important to you because they are! When you focus on your customers and gain their trust, they will not only recommend you but they will also remain loyal to you. Remember, personal recommendation and word-of-mouth are the least costly yet most effective marketing strategy for your business.

8. Plan for success. An entrepreneur should understand the power of planning. A good plan helps you increase your chances of succeeding and can help you define your business concept, estimate costs, predict sales and control your risks. It tells you where you are going and how to get there. Going into business without a plan is like driving into a foreign land without a road map.

9. Be innovative. Innovate your offerings constantly, keeping pace with technological changes. Use change as a springboard to improve your products, procedures or reputation. Innovation should also cover your operations from pricing, promotion, customer service, distribution, etc. Keep your eyes for new ways of doing things, and apply those that can improve the quality of your products and efficiency of your operations.

10. Work smart. As an entrepreneur, you need to possess self-confidence, plus a never-ending sense of urgency to develop your ideas. Studies have shown that the individuals who succeed in entrepreneurship are far-sighted and can accept things as they are and deal with them accordingly. They know how to manage their time, realizing the importance of leisure in as much as work. These people are oftentimes quick to change directions when they see their plans are not working. More importantly, they recognize their weak points and move on to nurture alliances and acquire the skills they need to put their business on the right track. They realize the importance of working smart, knowing that it is not the quantity of work you do, but what you do and how well you do it.

It will help if you start with the first thing that comes to mind. Surely, you already know what you do and what you can provide to your customers, so start with that. Then move on to the next important thing.

2 - Look at your marketing materials. It will help if you scrutinize your materials so you would know what is working and what doesn't. Those that don't work can be replaced. You can even get the feedback of your customers to determine what appeals to them. If you can go back and look at your old materials, that would be better. Make sure that you find reliable online printing services that will help you create materials that will promote your brand.

3 - Consider the thoughts of your customers. It's best if you can get testimonials or feedback from your customers. Don't disregard their opinion as this can help you improve your brand. Even if they provide you bad feedbacks, don't take them negatively. This will help you improve your business and create materials that will best represent you. Their insight will surely help you get the most out of your marketing campaign.

4 - Look at your competition. It's good that you look at your competitions to determine how you are doing compared to them. You can check out their website, business cards, brochures, and all other marketing materials they have. Look at how they tell their story and how they made their business stand out. You can get ideas from them on how to make your brand and your business better.

What Is A Good Leadership Goal?

Good leadership goal setting is a major task of a leader. A good leader basically sets good goals, because the excellence of a leadership is measured by the merit of its accomplishment. How do you define a good goal? There are 3 fundamental guidelines to good leadership goal setting:

A good goal:

  • Is easily understood by the team
  • Motivates and inspires the team
  • Greatly benefits everyone when accomplished

Guidelines For Leadership Goal- Setting

To further understand these guidelines for setting goals in leadership, ask these questions:

  • Does everybody in the team understand the goals? Team members have to understand the mission and what roles and tasks they will be performing to achieve it. Everyone is kept on track and the team can keep its focus if team members understand what they are doing and what for. Otherwise, if goals are vague and the team is obscured, there wouldn't be coherence and efforts towards working for the goals will be in disarray.

  • When the goal is accomplished, what benefit does it give to the organization? How does it benefit the brand and the business? You as the leader? The team? Keep the outcomes in mind when setting leadership goals. Strategies implemented to achieve a goal should be commensurate to the results you expect later on.

  • As a run over, try setting short term goals at first. This can serve to be a trial for your later trysts on goal setting. More difficulties are encountered with big, long- term goals, and they can be daunting as well. When setting short term goals in the meantime, you get to test your limits and capacity along with the people you'll be working with.

  • You may have to tackle more than one goal at a time. In this case, allocate your resources well, including the people you'll have to work with. Make means so that your team gets the proper information and training.

  • Be innovative and progressive. Don't set the same goals again and again. Think of novel, resourceful and viable ideas for your goals. Do something new periodically instead of boring your team with routine and monotony. All the more will people's interest be piqued and they would be looking forward to your next endeavors.
